Antiopi Frantzi, Teacher, M.ed, Director of the 70th Primary School of Athens
Abstract
The aim of this research was to explore students’ viewpoints regarding gender identities and develop a proposal for better communication. Its starting point were the tensions between male and female students of the 70th Primary School of Athens, hence the sample consisted of both male and female students (of Classes D and E, age 8-11.) The procedure helped with reflecting on stereotypical gender behaviors, as well as realizing the need for changes and greater empathy towards the other. Finally, it helped with reflecting on the school’s policies, and offered the students the opportunity for active participation in the school community, with regard to emotional education.
