Dr. Chrysa Terezaki, Coordinator of the Scientific Network for Adult Education in Crete & Teacher in elementary school

Abstract

The study concerns the six-month planning of a Community Work Plan - Action Plan, at the level of the development of a non-profit Scientific Organization, the Network for the Adult Education in Crete (SNAE.C). This Plan - Action Plan has a specific direction, based on the principles and practices of the Adult Education and the Life Long Learning as the structural principles of the Organization. The above principles support the practice of its Campaign-Development Plan in terms of resources in general and specifically in terms of human resources recruitment. The initiative starts when the members of the Organization (Volunteer Staff and Volunteer Coordinating Council) are awakened by the sudden death of a member of the Organization, a volunteer physician, and they decide to take action. The vision of their lost partner becomes the basis for the motto of the campaign titled “Community Action Now (C.A.N)! We say NO to what pollutes and dies us ... YES to life”. Moreover issues (such as Smoking, Alcohol, Sexual Abuse of Weak people, Abuse of Animals, Food Chain Pollution and Climate Change) in combination with the Adult Education and the Culture in the Community they had been the basic backbone of the Project; a plan that, both in theoretical and practical terms, it concerns Citizens Education-Sensitization in Volunteering and Citizenship, while it directly has been emerged from the Organization's Relationship with Civil Society.
